Congratulations to Xing Sun and Qiang Li for successfully defending their Master theses. Xing is our group’s second M.S. graduate, and Qiang is our group's co-advised M.E. graduate.

to Eduardo Villarreal for getting accepted to the Ph.D. program at the Department of Materials Science and NanoEngineering at Rice University;
and to Kaled Diab for getting accepted to the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
We wish them the best at TAMU, Rice, and UT MedSchool at Houston, respectively.

New research equipment added

Two new pieces of equipment were added to the MAO group in April 2014: an Autolab PGSTAT302N/FRA32 Potentiostat/Galvanostat/ZRA workstation and a FLS980 spectrofluorimeter (Edinburgh Instruments Ltd.).

Plus: A brand new LAMBDA 950 UV/Vis/NIR spectrophotometer from Perkin-Elmer with the capability for diffuse reflectance measurement is now located at the Department of Chemistry;

And the acquisition of an X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy System for Interdisciplinary Research and Education in Multi-Scale Materials at University of Texas-Pan American has been awarded by the Army Research Office while Dr. Mao serves as a co-PI.

Congrats, Xing, for the scholarship made possible by the Blandina Cardenas Endowment to attend the ACS meeting in Dallas, TX.

2014 ACS spring meeting

Part of the MAO Group hit north and rolled all the way up to Dallas to attend the 2014 Spring ACS National Meeting. Eight presentations (6 orals and 2 posters) were given in total, and Dr. Mao chaired two sessions.

Two new postdoctor fellows joined the MAO group in March 2014.
